determining oil level?
I just did my first oil change on my new to me E500 ('04). I'm having a hard time feeling comfortable about the level. When I check in the main display I get an "oil ok" message, when I dig into the other quasi hidden menu it's showing 6.8L, when I look at the amount of oil that came from my jug it looks closer to 9L. How do I know what's correct and safe. Looking at the jug I'm concerned I've overfilled, looking at the 2 electronic readouts on the vehicle I'm ok. I can't stand not having a dipstick, my other car doesn't have one either. I saw you can get a dipstick made just for checking the level, do I need this, if so any recommendations?

If you are certain you poured 8+ quarts, and the car is level the cluster should at least report that much. Did you already started the engine and ran it for a 1 min?

I def poured at least 8 in, I only ran it for a few seconds to move it onto a level spot on my drive. This was a few hours ago, oil should have all settled back down, I'll have another look.
