How to tell if your breather is bad?

I have a 2008 E320 blue tech I keep finding excess oil in the intake pipe right before the turbo I know a little bit is normal but I wanted to ask everyone how do I know if the breather that I am posting a picture with this post is faulty? is there a way to test to see if maybe it’s allowing too much oil to blow by?

So inexpensive and easy to replace ... why not just replace it and monitor.
