Looking at used 2005 E500
The E500 (silver/black) has a MSRP of $64,500 with 900 miles. What do you think is a fair price? I am in Florida. It is being sold at a GM dealership. It was traded on a STS.

I'd say 5K off from the best deal you could get on a brand new one.. otherwise, why bother, right? Unless its the exact color combo/options you want and you really have to have it that way and cant find another.

I don't think the caddy dealer will have as easy a time selling this as the MB dealer. They may wholesale it out.
If you like the car, shoot out a ultra low offer. Otherwise I agree with the above poster, if the price is close, get a new one.

You know how car buyers joke about a car depreciating a whole year the minute the rear wheels clear the dealers' driveway? That car has to be depreciated 1 whole year for you to buy it, otherwise buy new. If you were trading it in, they'd knock a year off it. "Its a used car".
See how much an '04 depreciated when the '05s came out & use your "slide rule". A GM dealer cant sell it as anything other than a used car, to me it doesnt matter what the milage is on it... it might as well have 10,000 miles on it. Nobody has that kind of money to throw around except a "pop" star.
Find out where it was previously registered. Is it possible it was wet from the hurricanes?

I'm taking it for the evening....
I spoke with the former owner, after taking it by the local MB dealer. It has no service history. The owner just preferred the STS. I typically buy new, and, to be honest, I always thought the E-Class was a little too small for me. After driving my Corolla the past few months, the E seems bigger. 
The STS I was considering, seems a little more comfortable and the sound system (Bose 5.1 with XM) rocks! I am sure the MB has better re-sale, and around here, I only see retired folks in the Cadillac sedans.

FWIW I paid 51,900 for loaded 04 E500 with 11K miles and MB dealer threw in one extra year warranty ... two weeks ago.

Price is approx. $56,500. My MB salesman offered me $2,000 off on a new E.
Do I need two Mercedes?
