CDI recall

When I took the car in for the final repair per lemon law, I was informed that there was a recall to reprogram something. They didnt have any idea what it was but would let me know when they find out.

Fill us CDI owners in as soon as you hear anything. I suppose our European friends could tell us if they have had any TSB's or recalls since the CDI has been there for a couple of years before hitting our shores.

Hi Saffrontiger,
By recall I take it you mean a request from Mercedes-Benz to take our vehicle to a dealer for a specific item to be looked at?

If that is the case, then the only 'Recall' I have received has absolutely nothing to do with the engine.

The recall was the much discussed SBC issue, and was more a request of the 'next time your passing' type.

I also owned the 210 320CDI and never received a single recall for the engine.

I am not saying there have not been any actual recalls relating to the 320CDI engine, I am merely saying that for the last four years I have not been notified of one.

Hope that helps,
John

Its still in the shop, they are waiting on an airbag control module. As for the recall, thats what it is, SBC recoding. They said the letters havent been sent out yet but they were going to do mine while its there. The only thing they told me so far is that they are ordering a turbo control module.

In that case your title heading is very misleading. The SBC incident applies to the 211 series in general and NOT the 320CDI in particular. I am certainly NOT saying however that it may, or may not include US spec vehicles as they have a very cut down version of this system.

The SBC 'saga' was very well discussed on this forum many, many months ago. It is certainly no big deal and only effected a very small number of extremely high mileage European taxi's.
