2006 E350 Instrument Cluster
Seem to be a few threads regarding the instrument cluster issues. Recently my 2006 E350 starting experiencing instrument cluster issues. First start of the day and no lights on the dash. Headlights would not work, turn signals not working, radio not working... A few time of turning vehicle off and on again and the problem goes away. took the vehicle to the dealer for troubleshooting. I am told the cluster is bad and needs to be replaced. Quote $3k and they said I need to seriously think if I want to continue to drop money on the car as the expenses will soon bypass the value of the vehicle. Already spent $2.5k last year for other issues.
I can get an instrument cluster online and was wondering if I need to take the vehicle into the dealer for programming once the new cluster is installed? Will it matter if it is OEM or aftermarket?
Thanks in advance.

Dealer can not deal with 2nd hand parts to save your bottom line. A few internet stores specialise in fixing MB electronics, around the $500 mark. This prevents the need for Xentry SCN coding.
The delta goes in your vacations pot.

is this what happened maybe? I was told there is an instrument fault that was never fixed and this happens
even if you find a new cluster may not fix the issue! reprogramming cannot be done easily or cheaply. pulling ribbon cables that are paper thing is not easy either
