E200 Kompressor (sold 2008), BMW 7 series (2009), now waiting for the E63
Car's finally arrived, and so have the problems....
The dealer drove the car over to my office today, and yes, yes, the leaky air-vent has been fixed, and the rattling driver's side headrest has been replaced.
But now, the back support of the driver's seat creaks like there's no tomorrow, whenever I lean back into it. It's like a thousand springs have gone where no WD-40 has gone before!!!
And this is supposed to be a brand new Assembled in August 2004 car.
Mercedes, Mercedes, what's happened to your quality control!
Now I have to take the car in on Monday for the workshop to have a look and to see if they can "replicate" and then, if so, "rectify" this "unfortunate finding"...
I am *NOT* a happy camper

Can this be fixed?
Where the yellow "X" markers are, the creaking is unbearable. To paraphrase what somebody else said on these forums, for $199,888 smackaroos, I'd expect better quality seats that do NOT creak!

What on earth is going on??? The dealer drove the car???? Was he deaf??
Wobbles, I would be throwing a 'wobbly' over this. There is no sense ranting and raving, and I am sure that you are planning your next move. I trust they have given you free mats, mud flaps (if you want them) flowers for your wife, drinks for yourself????
Grrrrr Still they fixed one problem
Keep us informed
Regards,
John
A very wet (not a monsoon though) cold morning in Torquay

Hey! Maybe the car is built so well, and is so quiet, that you can hear noises that would be masked in a car of lesser quality? No, huh? Doesn't work for me either.

Okay, I've had bits and pieces of the day (it was an unbelievably busy day at work!) to do a thorough check of the car - even had time inbetween patients to take the car out for a short spin - and I'm happy to report, the only thing that's gotten my feathers all ruffled is the GAWDAWFUL SQUEAKING that is the backseat of the damn car.
Hopefully, they'll fix it ... and it'll be a quick/easy fix!

Although problems should not be present with a new vehicle, unfortunatly its getting more common.... Yes, even for Mercedes... Your seat problem sounds like a minor issue and probably more of an inconvienence than anything, so hang in there, get it fixed and enjoy the car.... Its quite a ride.
B.T.W... My car (with just over 10.000 Mi) has been absolutly flawless, during and after delivery.

RJC, Le Burpor - thanks for the comments. No, the backseats & the front passenger's seat are perfect: beautifully, comfortably padded, with not even a peep of protest when my not-inconsiderable-bulk lands on them. It's only the driver's seat that's the problem - and I'll find out if they can do something about that tomorrow.
You'd think as the purchaser of a new car, I'd have the right to ask for perfection - well, welcome to Singapore, where the monopoly by Cycle & Carriage (the local distributor here) means CRAPPY service (and if you're lucky, you might even get a half-smile).

Now the driver's seat sounds like what it's supposed to: NOISELESS, and I'm a happy man again (doesn't take a lot to please me).
I hope HOH has gotten his radio/demister problem sorted out too!

Glad to hear that the problem has been fixed. Now, go drive across the causeway into Malaysia and take the car for a nice fast cruise up the North-South Highway Singapore-Kuala Lumpur in 3 hrs
