'09 E350 Trunk won't raise all the way

I know this issue is extremely minor compared to others on here, but my '09 w/36K miles, trunk is starting to act wonky. Just recently
it won't raise all the way when popped with either the fob or handle. It still closes (95%) most of the time correctly. I was just wondering
if there is somewhere I could look to see if something needs lube or may be rubbing. Worked perfectly for the last 10 months of ownership
and it seemed to start with the hot weather here in TX.

I know, first world problems. Just thought someone else may have had this issue.

BTW, did a search and couldn't find anything.

Do you have the opening limiter enabled?

I think that only applies to wagons with liftgates. I don't see that option in my manual.

Can't speak to the '09 but my '05 E320 CDI had that function. It was done via the Instrument cluster.

Your trunk no longer opens all the way up.

The trunk weight is offset by springs that are easily adjustable individually.

One spring is located on each (trunk) side...
Notice how the spring tension is adjustable... go for it!

Closing is where you have to deal with trunk-pull mechanism. It uses two dozen parts assembled with a light lubricant that requires maintenance. It's DIY friendly.

Found one issue, the dreaded ground wire was broke. I guess it would make a connection sometime and other times not.
Fixed the ground wire and I can open the trunk, but the power closer no longer works. Light on lid doesn't light up, it's as if it's
not getting power. Can't see any other wires broken and all the fuses look OK.

BTW, how do I clear messages from the instrument cluster? I'm getting error messages about my license plate lights (which now
work fine).

Two steps forward, one step back.
