Cold Air Intake on 3.5 L V6 E350

Hey guys, so I’ve been looking around for cold air intakes on my 2007 E350 3.5L V6. I haven’t been able to find one that’s specifically for my spec but I found them for the M272 engine but for a C300. Do you think I can still install these?

Your car already had a cold air intake from the factory. The thing in the picture is a hot air intake.

Ahhh okay I see that now. So is there any benefit to my performance with a hot air intake? All I know is it will suck in hotter air so that my fuel economy would be a teeny bit better or is that wrong.

Other than more suction sound at WOT there is nothing that you will be gaining. You will probably lose power because of the hot air coming in, filtration would be worse than stock, given that you remove the paper filters inside the air box. If you don't, then you have more restrictions so yet again more power loss. Overall, more harm than good IMO.

Quite the opposite. You'll need cold, oxygen dense air to burn fuel/air mixture efficiently.

Cold dense air drawn from in front of all the heat exchangers in the nose of the car means with each intake pulse the engine draws more O2 at larger throttle openings for more power. To get intake air temperature to under ambient requires Water/Methanol injection which is a big help for force-fed engines making more boost then standard or for those of us who live in the desert. My S65 is noticeably less strong with ambient temps over 80 degrees. Current ambient is 115. Acceleration is leisurely this time of year by comparison. Ambient temperatures at or under freezing make for exciting performance.
