NavUp Subscription & Idiosyncracies
I was told by my dealer & MB cust service that I must call Navteq directly for a subscription, which I did. They told me the next update DVD will be next May, & that they are typically released every May. I asked them if the DVD is just an updated map/poi/ new road info, or if it upgraded the way the nav unit works, & the salesman told me its is only the map info, not any performance/software enhancements.
I wish MBUSA would allow us to enter a zipcode, to start with instead of tapping out a town name... and did you ever notice that sometimes the town name is not listed in correct alphabetical order on the page, but that you might have to scroll down many pages, thinking that the town is not listed or you misspelled it, to find the town listed pages later, out of alpha order in this fashion...
Samplesburg, Town of
instead of being listed in between the towns of:
Samplesberry
xxxx <Samplesburg should be listed here NOT pages later>

I agree, when I went to the website and ran thru the car identification menus I got the same message to order thru the dealer. The dealer said they don't sell NavUps, to call MB Customer Service in NJ. NJ gave me Navteq's Toll Free number & they gave me the whole sales pitch & pricing for the E DVD subscription...
Bottom line? The dealers around here don't know about NavUp & Navteq WILL sell a subscription. I was surprised too!

I just want to know so that I can write to Mercedes-Benz UK and request a similar service.
Thanks,

THANK YOU very much indeed (or should that be in-'dude')
Three years subscription US is less than one DVD upgrade ($670) in the UK, my pen finger is already twitching
Very kind regards
John
