Exclamation 2008 S211 E550 Japan imported, low milage

Hello,

I was offered a 2008 S211 E550 Wagon, Imported from Japan with low mileage -as low as 67000 km-.

My mechanic did the inspection, pictures below shows what he found.

Something concerns me a bit, the airmatic suspension takes a long time to rise, why is this happening?

From the diagnosis results, it seems that the car was not been used for a long time.

Also, the front bushing need to be replaced, same with the front brake pads.

I did the test drive, there is a bit of vibration from the bottom although the tires were new.

The car is ultra clean inside.

What do you guys think about it? is it a good buy? or a big trouble?

What's the price? You have a lot of stored codes that don't say they're current. Some of those may be an issue later. When it hasn't been scanned in a while it's going to keep lots of one time events. Normally you clear them all and see what comes back as some of those are just caused by a weak battery and aren't really problems. The airmatic will be an issue though, either the valve or the line has a leak somewhere. Or one of the bladders has a leak and they're a few hundred each to replace plus labor.

Front bushings can be labor intensive. Are you referring to lower control arms? Or sway bar links? I think on the lower control arms, cheaper to replace the bushings than to get new lower control arms because they were $500+ each but bushings were under $100, but still takes a bit of labor and tools needed to press out the old ones, put in new ones.

Also some of the codes could be real, hope the camshaft adjuster is just the sensor and not something wrong with the engine. Blower motor/regulator is a common thing to go, but it's a stored code so maybe just a one time thing from under voltage at one point. Same with the steering angle sensor, if you get ESP errors later, may need to replace the steering angle sensor at some point, it's in the steering wheel, youtube videos out there on how to replace it. Again, stored not current so may be nothing.

Vibration is typically motor mounts, the transmission mount is easy. The motor mounts weren't that bad on the V6, not sure about the V8.

Could be a gem but may need some work. An E550 wagon would be pretty rare, only the E350 made it here, no US E550 for that year in a wagon. What's the asking price?

Well don't know how much parts or labor are over there. One other thing, the speed sensor is another common fault, either the speed sensor is bad or the magnetic ring is rusted and needs to be replaced. Or it's just from low voltage due to a weak battery. Need to clear out all the faults and see what comes back.

Buy it after you read more about the chain stretch or Camshaft Adjuster for M273, as is already shown on DAS Short Test

A lot of codes. Doesn't seem like the car has been well cared for. Airmatic issues can be pricey.
