My turn with the airmatic
The car at hand is a CLS 320 2009, about 200k km on the clock. Where some parts have been changed out at some point in time.
Yes i have looked in the forum without finding answers, maybe some hidden thread has them? If so id be happy for someone to link it.
Now onto the issue.. The airmatic system started a few months ago where the compressor would run alot and all the functions would still work. Around two weeks ago the compressor would run for 5-30 minutes then id get malfunction with a picture of the car and arrow pointing up. Now i get this malfunction after the pump has ran for about 15 seconds and the car is all the way down on all wheels, with the car too low, stop message displaying bright and red.
What ive done so far:
Tested the compressor out of the car, it has suction (even through the air filter) and it blows out air. However I have no clue how much air it should produce? Tried to have my finger infront of the output and had to remove it after 15 seconds, is that normal?
The solenoid block seems to be working, as it blows air to the struts, but does not inflate any of them.
Checked for leaking struts, leaking on the air lines and towards the reservoirs, aswell as the connecting point in the back.
-I did however find that front left had a small leakage in the connection which is now repaired and not leaking anymore (yet). Cannot test this fully as the system does not get enough air to inflate.
Checked level sensors, all 3 of the are connected and without problems
Fuses and relay seems to be fine.
I did try to force the compressor to run for 3 minutes both without and with engine running, but that did nothing..
Tried to have the battery off for 15 minutes to reset the system
Tried to jack up the car and start the system for it to have less stress for the compressor
Searched for the problem and everything around it all weekend, and im more or less still clueless to what can cause this issue
So my question is, why in the world wont the car lift at all? Is it as simple as the compressor being bad?

But no worries, they are pretty much identical indeed.
This looks like a bad compressor indeed. The compressor does not need to run a lot with normal operations. If it runs a lot, its an indicator for issues in the system. If you have something like mbcarsoft or something similar, you can run a Airmatic test, which will turn on the compressor to build and hold pressure at about 14-15 BAR. If you don't have such a computer, I would order a new compressor and relay and air filter (for the compressor) and try that first. I created a video a while ago on how to swap out the Airmatic relay
