Apparently this is a defective unit known for recall in US where warranty was extended to 25 year.
!. I need assistance with its replacement, in US it was done free under a recall, my car is overseas.

I live in the Netherlands and mine was replaced under warranty earlier this year (2005 CLS55 AMG). You need to get it diagnosed by an official MB dealer, they will run a script to see if you are eligible for the replacement.
