Head Unit swapping?

Hello everyone,

I have a 2005 E320 with the normal COMAND unit, but I want something with some more modern features. Could I swap the head unit from an 09 W211 (which was an updated head unit which I think had bluetooth?) that is still the same size? Would it work? Does it have any real benefits? (Do those of you with 09s have bluetooth?)

I am going to volunteer an answer: UNLIKELY POSSIBLE.

Nothing MB is plug-n-play or simple. Lately even light bulbs needs coding.

MB proprietary parts are not open standards built to be "compatible"

Im going to pull out my 05 head unit and throw it in the trash.
I'm going to fit in a brand new 'double din' unit and add all new audio equipment. Amp, door speakers, woofer in rear etc.
I'm also adding a front and rear cameras.
You can llook up a 'kit' to hardwire the new head unit to use steering wheel controls, but, obvoisouly anyting else that is/was used by the benz stuff wont work.
But in reality, that is fine by me, as a 2005 is pretty old in tech years and there is nothing the facotry head unit does that i cant live without.
Even if the steering wheel controls dont work, im not that lazy that i would care, i can still push buttons..

I used enfig adaptor and trim panel for my custom set up and it worked great, retains steering wheel controls.

Full aftermarket audio set up.
