Question '03 E500 Rear end sagging

Just recently purchased a '03 E500 with 78,000 miles. Only had to replace the heater control valve so far but now there's a bigger issue. I had been getting a malfunction showing up on the dash with the car and arrow pointing up. All my air struts were okay and no sagging at all. The light was on about two weeks without me checking into it. Yesterday morning i went out to my car to find the rear end sagging a ton. I turned the car on and started driving hoping the back would air up but only the front was staying up. i could hear the pump running when i first turned the car on so that works. About one minute into driving i got a red warning "Stop, vehicle too low" so i pulled over and saw the rear was still sagged to the bump stops. Took the car back home and pulled the number 15 fuse and that's all good. I plan on getting the wheel off today to inspect the air shock. I'm really not to sure if it is the bags themselves since it would be odd for them to both go out overnight after driving the car the night previously with no issues. Can cold weather effect this as well? What are some things I should look for later on before I pull the trigger on buying these Arnott A-2724 air springs.

Welcome...I would definitely anticipate purchasing new rear bags. Since your car is a 03, surprise they lasted this long, but it is time. Make sure when you install the new bags the installer does not "pinch" the line or it will not get the proper air needed to lift rear of car. Plenty of informative threads for w211 replacing rear airmatic, and also Youtube too. GL

Would you venture to guess that it's still the bags even though when I raise the vehicle, I don't hear any leaking let alone any air even being pumped to the rear? If it happens to be the bags, I will be the one changing them. Looks fairly simple after watching the FCP Euro video on YouTube of rear Airmatic R&R

Not too difficult, but don't be in a rush to get it done. Ensure you change those brass fittings the go on the end of the plastic line to the bags. Other than that you should be good. Are you adding new struts? If so go with the bilsteins they are a bit expensive, but since your doing the work you will cover that expense. We believe in your ability! GL
