Coolant Temperature Reads 0
On my '03 E320 CDI the coolant temperature Guage is not showing a value no matter how hot the engine gets. I've replaced the coolant temperature sensor, and an OBD2 reader displaced an accurate temperature reading. My next suspect is the guage itself, but is there something else I should check before replacing the instrument cluster? Any advice would be greatly appreciated

IIRC there's a gauge test via xentry/launch/whatever decent computer you have that does 2 way comms with the car to see if the gauge will sweep from min to max.
Then look into who can rebuild your existing cluster for pennies compared to the hassle of replacing it.

You have tested the ECT sensor to be good as seen by ECU but gauge is still acting up...

Correct me if I'm mistaken, but if we get used IC, and swap the rear circuit board from the original IC where the wiring harness connects to, odo should show correct reading and there is correct VIN.
If so, that's quite easy 15 min job.

It will work if the issue is not on the circuit board itself but with dial. That's a good way to find out.
If the used replacement is gonna work then try to lube the dials because it's nearly as old as the failed original. You won't have to revisit again later.
