Windshield washer working strangely?

Hello.
I know there are a lot of posts about washer/wipers, but I could not find anything about this particular problem, sorry guys.

Few weeks back my wipers stopped working while driving and the washer went out as well. I checked out the fuse/relay/connector but then when I opened the motor I found out he was the problem. Changed it, wipers work fine but washer is still out. The wierd thing is, if I hold in the washer button while all turned off, and then put on ignition while holding, it sprays fine for some seconds and then nothing.

Anyone heard about anything similar?

My first post here guys, so bare with me ✌️🇸🇪
Best regards

The washer and wiper circuits will be independent of each other. Now that the wiper motor is fixed, I'd be checking any relay for the washer first for continuity(they're cheap or you can swap it with a like one from your car). If thats OK, then check the washer motor which can be easily bench tested. If the washer motor works well on the bench, next step would be to test the switch which you do with a multimeter.

Thanks !
If the motor works for these few seconds for some reason, shouldn't it be okay?

Not necessarily. It may start, but then fail. It starting is a good sign but like all electric motors they rely on resistance and ability to generate an electro-magnetic field so they wear.

Start with the relay. Thats you're simplest and easiest fix. then test both switch and motor.

I had to replace the washer fluid pump in our E320 - maybe a couple of years ago? I tried one of the low cost clones you will find on amazon and others. Made a bunch of noise and leaked with low pressure. Housing was super low strength plastic and the nipple broke off just removing it to inspect it shortly after installing. Junk. Sent to back to amazon. Ended up getting the MB pump from fcp euro. Worked and still does flawlessly.
