2007 Mercedes E350
Question Control Code Errors – Where to Start?

Hi all,

I have a 2007 Mercedes E350. She's become my baby, and I want to get her back to 100%.

I recently got a BlueDriver OBD scanner and found a bunch of "B" codes (see attached). It seems they are all related to some voltage/electrical issue. Short of replacing my 6-year-old battery, are there any other obvious things I should check that might resolve a majority of these codes at once?

P.S. My CEL is on because of the two "P" codes. Would gladly take input on those as well, though I suspect I just need to clean or replace those sensors.

you should look into fixing your 2x confirmed codes with your Mercedes shop.

You check engine light is related to timing Issues and engine coolant temperature regulation.

As @calibenzdriver stated, focus on the codes you have. My first thoughts are the majority might be caused by your battery/charging system. Use your scan tool to check battery voltage (11.7v+) with engine off and 13.7v+ with engine running. Below that voltage, you most likely have a battery that's failing or its the alternator.

The modules only need a small drop in voltage to start playing games. And you have a couple of low voltage/communication codes that make low voltage an obvious culprit. Sort that out and make sure you have a good power supply or you might not ever sort it out. Whenever I get a code or CEL my first stop is to check voltage.

Well this is S P O T - ON !!

That is excellent honest advice. The type of wise help we need more of.

We both believe it's essential to try and nail the root cause...

All Star Favorites:
  1. Low battery charge (drain?)
  2. crazy alternator voltage (display)
  3. Amazing junko chassis/engine GND strap

"High maintenance" means it needs regular attention by someone preferably who cares.
👏

How did you go with this? Did you sort it out and what was the fix?
