thankyou!
I now have a code for P2199. Not getting any Mercedes specific codes on my scanner though. Thoughts?

From vague memory I believe p0402 is an egr related code. I had it show up after replacing the dpf too, I just deleted it and reset adaptations and initializing dpf which tells the car you have a new one in. It didn’t come back but you can check under the b28 back pressure sensor and egr passages for excessive soot or a blockage and clean it out.
first confirm what that code is though
yeah it can get debris/soot in the ports/sensor as you guessed
You’re welcome and good luck with the cleaning , I went through this with my car(2008 e320) a couple years ago but it has been mostly solid since.

Anyways, I’m going to do some of the things you’ve suggested as you seem to know a lot more about it than I do. I appreciate all the help and I’ll be back when I’ve tried it and it works/doesn’t work.
the drive back was smoke free but she did stink a little more than she should.
That sounds like a loose clamp or weld creating exhaust leak near dpf. Mine doesn’t hiss at all
I’m not a mechanic but can help from firsthand experience with my 08, it is a somewhat rare car and most shops will not know what to do but still charging you for it.
just drive and keep monitoring the codes. My car did throw a code to tell me the injectors were overfueling from past dpf clog. I reset them too and the code never came back. It could be running a little rich after trying to burn off the old dpf which isn’t there anymore
