Aftermarket rear door window shades

We have had a few threads where the rear window shade and side window shades were discussed. From these I found that there is an aftermarket shade kit for the side windows that is custom made for the E W211.

I am interested in buying this alleged set (the price mentioned is around $150). If I am correct, they mount very easily and roll up on the bottom ledge of the windowsill. When pulled up, it hooks on some plastic hooks that you also mount easily.

Who knows where they can be bought and where I can look at some pictures of them rolled up and down? If they are as good as they sound, that sound like a really good deal.

Any info anyone??

Mercedes sell some that pop in and pop out. They are amazing. You hook two pieces of plastic in the bottom on the window, two clips clip onto the top under the rubber and you pop it in and out.

Hi Steve

Let me see whether I can help here.

See below for my setup.

PICTURE of SIDE SHADE

These may be ordered from MB stealership. They work pretty well especially the rear shade. The way the holes are aligned, I don't see any issues seeing through them from inside of the car while driving. The side shade works well blocking sunlight into the car BUT it does create a blind spot for the driver on the left side. I noticed when performing lane changes on the left side, my vision is blocked slightly since I can't see through the back window. I have to tilt my head more to look out from my driver's door windows.

Hope this helps.

for some reason, the shades for the side windows look like they down roll donw. Do they?

Also, how easy is it to roll the back window shade? I had an electric one on my old 300E from 1991. It was not a very common feature back then, but I loved it!!!! I am used to looking though the shades. I think that they are a great alternative to tinting!

Thank you and tell me what your experience it. I think I'm sold.

Steve

Also, I'm on the phone with my dealer's parts department. They sound confused. Do you have part numbers? I really appreciate this.

Wow - I'm impressed. It looks like to me it comes with a car. I have the rear sunshade package in my car, actually I like your rear side window better than mine.

Thanks!

Steve

I had mine for around 6 months and as far as I know, they don't roll down. If you want the side shades off, you need to have the door open and unhook the top 2 clips. The shade will then hang loosely unless you remove the bottom rod from the bottom holder.

As for the rear shade, it is also fixed but I think it is alright staying there. I have not noticed the rear shade being an obstruction to my rear view.

Finally, after having them for a while, FWIW, I like them. Yes, there are times that I wish the side were retractable but at the thought of spending alot more monies to retro the retractable ones, I am happy with what I have.

Hope this helps.

My dealer just called me back. I had them look at this thread to see what I was talking about. I am ordering them.

It is $85 for each rear door and $116.55 for the rear window. I just ordered them. Now I just have to get the car back from the body shop so I can mount them.

Thanks, again I did not need too much convincing, but it sure helped to see the pictures read what you all had to say.

Steve A.

I love this forum, its kind of addictive.

Glad that my pictures helped.

Installation is pretty simple. There were couple of PINs for the rear shade that I chose not to insert into the headliner. When you get your kit, you'll understand

GL in your installations

I have it and the rear shade, it does not lay completly flat. Were you able to get it flat all the way arcoss without waves in it?

It is generally flat across the rear screen though there are slight "waves" on top and bottom of the shade. I gather that with slight adjustments, the "waves" may be minimized but at this time, it looks fine (almost) for me. When I have the time, I'll take the pic of the complete rear shade from inside of the car

GearHead,

I like the color of your car . I have the Ash interior though. But I love the A. White. Once again, thanks for the information.

I ordered the parts over the phone last week. They are actually at the dealer already but I have not picked them up yet. If everything goes as planned, I will be going to the dealer this Wednesday. As soon as I have the invoice in my hand I will give a list of the part numbers and the prices.

I have asked for these same shades, and the dealer gave me following numbers

Rear Shade: B66691112 Price: 65 Euro (56 + VAT)
Right window: B66691333 Price: 56 Euro (49 + VAT)
Right window: B66691332 Price: 56 Euro (49 + VAT)

The dealer did not have any pictures in the computer, but stated these are the numbers for the shades.

Can anyone confirm these number are correct before I order them.

It is strange, but the dealer tells me that there are as well some code number for the hooks and small pieces to attach the shades to the car, but these pieces do not have a price (although they have separate part number than the shade).

Can anyone tell me if these hooks part number came with the shade or had to be ordered apart.

Thanks

Hello, I don't know about how they are selling the mounting kit now, but mine came with the side shades. I bought one for the rear window and then had an eclectic OEM shade installed. I still have the rear shade though.

My side shades are still working well after 7 years now. The windows DO open and close without a problem. I like it because it stops the wind buffeting when I have the rear windows open (on seldom occasions).
