Aftermarket rear door window shades
I am interested in buying this alleged set (the price mentioned is around $150). If I am correct, they mount very easily and roll up on the bottom ledge of the windowsill. When pulled up, it hooks on some plastic hooks that you also mount easily.
Who knows where they can be bought and where I can look at some pictures of them rolled up and down? If they are as good as they sound, that sound like a really good deal.
Any info anyone??

Let me see whether I can help here.
See below for my setup.

These may be ordered from MB stealership. They work pretty well especially the rear shade. The way the holes are aligned, I don't see any issues seeing through them from inside of the car while driving. The side shade works well blocking sunlight into the car BUT it does create a blind spot for the driver on the left side. I noticed when performing lane changes on the left side, my vision is blocked slightly since I can't see through the back window. I have to tilt my head more to look out from my driver's door windows.
Hope this helps.
Also, how easy is it to roll the back window shade? I had an electric one on my old 300E from 1991. It was not a very common feature back then, but I loved it!!!! I am used to looking though the shades. I think that they are a great alternative to tinting!
Thank you and tell me what your experience it. I think I'm sold.

Also, I'm on the phone with my dealer's parts department. They sound confused. Do you have part numbers? I really appreciate this.

I had mine for around 6 months and as far as I know, they don't roll down. If you want the side shades off, you need to have the door open and unhook the top 2 clips. The shade will then hang loosely unless you remove the bottom rod from the bottom holder.
As for the rear shade, it is also fixed but I think it is alright staying there. I have not noticed the rear shade being an obstruction to my rear view.
Finally, after having them for a while, FWIW, I like them. Yes, there are times that I wish the side were retractable but at the thought of spending alot more monies to retro the retractable ones, I am happy with what I have.
Hope this helps.
It is $85 for each rear door and $116.55 for the rear window. I just ordered them. Now I just have to get the car back from the body shop so I can mount them.
Thanks, again I did not need too much convincing, but it sure helped to see the pictures read what you all had to say.

I love this forum, its kind of addictive.

Installation is pretty simple. There were couple of PINs for the rear shade that I chose not to insert into the headliner. When you get your kit, you'll understand

The dealer did not have any pictures in the computer, but stated these are the numbers for the shades.
Can anyone confirm these number are correct before I order them.
It is strange, but the dealer tells me that there are as well some code number for the hooks and small pieces to attach the shades to the car, but these pieces do not have a price (although they have separate part number than the shade).
Can anyone tell me if these hooks part number came with the shade or had to be ordered apart.
Thanks
i understand the shades will be fixed in place and are not retractable
also does the mounting kit come with the shades themselves as i have seen seperate part numbers for the mounting kit

My side shades are still working well after 7 years now. The windows DO open and close without a problem. I like it because it stops the wind buffeting when I have the rear windows open (on seldom occasions).
