Ignition switch and steering lock - two shop keys?
I have an 09 E350 RWD with the AMG aero package.
Had no serious issues over the last 4 years until now.
Ignition switch apparently died (could not turn either key, key tested good with emulator), shop said it was both the switch and the lock once they took it apart and programmed the ESI.
They then claimed that the shop key I got from the Merc dealership was corrupted.
I had to go get another key and now they say they also need one for the electronic steering lock.
Merc dealership parts tech wasnt sure if one was needed for the lock.
Neither they or anyone else can answer what I thought would be a simple question.
The question - when replacing the ESI AND the steering lock are TWO separate shop keys (blue keys) needed for the programming part of the fix/repair?
1 for the ESI and another for the steering lock? Does this sound correct for an 09 W211 e350?
