car back from service, interesting notes.

besides blowing out and replacing my tire on a test drive they also performed the following.

They did the SBC brake recall software update, but they did not bleed the brakes..I dont know why, but apparently they chose not to as stated on the work order. Should this have been done and why do you think they chose not to?

They also told me there was a service bulletin on the rear ac not working correctly and blowing out hot air..so they fixed that as well..they replaced the shut off valve and heater core. (as mine was blowing out hot air when the ac was on using the rear 4zone.) I was roasting my rear passengers...

Lastly, my transmission was slipping into neutral as i mentioned in a prevoius post, they replaced the seals, and cut off locking tab - there was an internal leak that was causing the electronics to malfunction.

It seems these cars are full of gremlins...I must admit, John King at MB Manhattan is a great service advisor, he really goes the extra mile and he is the only thing that keeps me from getting angry..If you use MB Manhattan, he is great...

It's interesting you mention bleeding the brakes. My car is going in next week for schedule C service and the recall. The service rep told me they DO bleed the brakes in addition to the software update. I was going to post this today but I did not want to beat a dead horse. Why the inconsistant service dealer to dealer? $$$?

Not inconsistent, more so if it’s required by MBUSA.

A yearly subscription is expensive but a 1 day or weekly subscription for the inquisitive mind isnt bad.

My car is at the dealer right now. With the complete info on the procedure, it makes more sense (there is a step by step metodology which determines what will be done to the car). Mine needed the software update and bleeding.

I had them do the Voice Control Module for my phone and the gromet for the water leak at the same time.

Got my car back this morning. Brakes are working fine. The phone however is still an issue. They replaced the voice control module and fixed a short to ground on the microphone. Now intead of me sounding like I am under water, it sounds as if I am in a loooong tunnel. That one will have to be a work in progress.
