Smart Key not so smart.
Howdy to all,
I'm new to this great forum but not new to MB. In the last 10 years I have owned 7 various models. My current ride is a Black '04 E500 4matic, purchased on 10/15/04.
My question is, has anyone experienced their smart key(s) not maintaining their memory for seat position etc...? Thanks.

I have never had a problem, but have you gone to the MFD and made sure that the memories are set to "key dependent." If you don't, they keys will not seem that smart then.

Also, someone a few weeks ago, had a second key in their handbag that WASN'T set to key dependent, which confused the system. Make sure your handbag is empty of keys!

So if it is set to "key dependent" I don't know what to say. The earlier post stated about having a key in a handbag. That could be a problem if you have "Keyless go" or what ever it is called.
I don't have keyless go and I have not had any problems of this kind. However, I also just realized that I am pretty much the only one who drives this car! I guess that my experience is not that strong since my key is used 98% of the time.

I would suggest a search on this forum and you will find countless reference's to this niggling problem
