CV axle, tripod removal?
I am replacing the CV boots on the front axles.
The boots I got are far less flexible than what I was expecting.
I would have been better off just getting new axles, but anyway...
I found some videos on how to take off the outer joints, but since these seem to be in good shape, I would prefer not to hammer them off.
Would it be possible and easier to remove the tripods on the inner side instead? Is it just holding by the circlip? I can't find any drawings or videos on this.
Thanks in advance

You don't want to mess with the inner boot. Also Mercedes sells an outer boot joint kit but not the inner. The outer boot kit from MB is the one you want, comes with a new bolt, grease and the right kind of boot. The aftermarket ones are usually a cheaper rubber that doesn't last. Used to be around $40 for the MB kit. Normally you just hammer away at the outer boot to get it off. If you try the inner boot, there's no good kit for the inner boot and I had to get new axles when the kit I bought didn't work.
