New Grille

I would really like to get a CL style frint grille but can't seem to find any. Has anyone found a supplier of decent grilles that either sell in England or can ship to at a decent price?

The guy gives out his MSN, ICQ, AOL contacts so you can speak to him directly.

I've ordered some things from him and shipping to Australia is $40 USD (approx).

I would also recommend Jerry at formymercedes.com. He actually gave me his prototype CL grill when it was still in pre-production (early april). I stop by his place frequently to check out aftermarket mods to see if i like them. He's a stand up guy IMO.

Hey Lionhead-
Nice ride. What kinda wheels and tires is that in the pic in your signature? They are very much the style I'm considering for my car. No worries on having a duplicate of your ride on the street, I live in southern California.

I also bought my grill from Jerry. I ordered it in the afternoon and I got an e-mail 1 hour later saying that it was shipped. I got 3 more e-mails with status along the way and it arrived on time as promised. Finish on the grill is really nice and easy to intsall. The price point is an incredible value.

Facor in the exchange rate (Euro to the US Dollar) and that is a smokin deal.

Cheers

Thanks guys,

I think I'll send Jerry an E-Mail tomorrow, haven't found any other grilles that are any good so looks like Jerry wins.

When I get it I'll post a picture, might be the first W211 in England with a CL-Style grill.

Hi Marcos,
Will you leave the three pointed star sitting proud or go for the flat emblem on the bonnet?

Good luck with your order,
John

Not sure really John, I'll leave it at first and see what response I get. I might not even like the new grill though :o

Definately go for the flat emblem. The three pointed star will overpower the grill (lookwise). Check out my photo in the picture thread. I got grill, flat emblem, and illuminated sills from formymercedes.com.

Quick question: I have a black E320 and cannot really glimpse the grill colors too well. I like the color contrast of my factory grill, for the black car, should I get the silver or black grill to most resemble my factory grill color? Thx.

I bought the black grill for my car (it is black). There is really no color contrast and I think the silver would be too much on a black car. Get the black, you will love it, guarenteed!

So is the black grill the closest in color to the factory grill?

Yes, they are painted Obsidian Black. There is a hair of metalic in it but even staring at 12" away there is no way to tell the difference in color. I would take a pic, but trust me, you will love it!

I hope so. For awhile, I wasn't sure because frankly I love the factory grille / MG hood star look.

Just installed the CL-style grill and flat hood emblem that I ordered from Gerry at formymercedes.com. Pretty easy . . . less than an hour - next come new wheels. Here are some pics:

The pictures do look very nice, and I totally agree about the silver grille. It would look totally out of character with the 211.

Good morning everyone,
John

Looks nice. Especially with the black grill on a black E-Class.
