No voltage at Starter Solenoid

I recently changed the starter motor on my car, because the other one was not always engaging as far as I could tell, it made a spinning noise and after a few tries started the car.
I tested the starter before installing it, and it seemed fine. When it was in the car, I turned the key and it clicked once but didn't start. After that, turning the key does nothing at all, there are no noises and no voltage at the wire connecting to the solenoid. There is radio/lights/AC etc, and the battery has correct voltage.
As far as I could see the fuses were ok, I am going to try to bridge the starter relay to see if its an issue at the relay. Any other ideas of what to check? The wiring goes from solenoid -> fuse -> relay -> ignition correct? Are there any obvious points where there are connectors?
Some other info, when I had the intermittent starting issue, I would get a red battery warning light. It went away after it started successfully and drove for a while. I had disconnected the old starter because I was removing the intake manifold. It was after that I had the intermittent starting problem.
The error codes when I checked battery were all related to aux. battery or alternator. Can aux battery have any impact on the starter system?
9051 Consumer shutoff stage 1
9055 The terminal 61 on the CAN bus is missing or is faulty
9092 Component Ga/7 (auxiliary battery) is defective or not installed
9071 Component K57/2 (auxiliary battery relay) or the signal wire to the component is faulty

Turns out I didn't check the fuses properly though... Fuse 59 was gone. I replaced it with 25a as I didn't have any others and started no problem!
I shorted it a little when I changed the manifold (forgot to disconnect battery) so maybe I weakened it then
