The 3.5mm AUX plug? If yes, then I never experienced any issues. I use this AUX port a lot (Apple iPod) in combination with the external Android Auto screen I am using.

hey thanks for the reply. im kinda doing what your doing. rather than rip out the old comand and replace it, ive decided to use my s8+ tablet on magnet mounts and run the audio through an FM transmitter. since im in nyc the FM band is already congested and i get lots of cross interference. so im going to try and use the aux input with battery power. one thing i hate is having wires/cables all over the place. only thing bad about this is my aux input is in the glove box. this becomes a PITA. would love to find a clean way to run the aux cable from the glove box to the console with out any hole drilling. after looking it over, i cant find a way to do this.
btw...thats a cool set up. how did you mount that screen? it looks like my factory screen from my glc 300
