Headlights
This has probably been beat to death, but after searching I've found too much conflicting info, so......here goes. I'm now working nights and am going to be driving 40 miles each way on dark rural roads. Needless to say the stock halogens on the 2004 E 320 I will be using are not going to cut it. I would either like to upgrade the low beams to HID and high beams to LED, or both to LED. HID won't work for high beam due to the lag time to full brightness.
That said, can anyone PLEASE recommend a H7 HID and/or LED set that won't flicker, turn on and off repeatedly or set a warning message. In other words plug and play with no issues. Many, MANY thanks folks!!

This forum is pretty dead, (like most of these cars by now)
Anyways I'd say you have bigger problems than headlights if you are relying on a 20+ year old E class for regular commuting "driving 40 miles each way on dark rural roads". Probably one of the last cars I'd want for that type of use case. Get yourself a used Toyota.

For low beam, Im using the DDmtuning HID kits. Seems to be very reliable... but remember to buy the CAN BUS error canceling kit (to prevent flicker). w211 headlight designed to be closed off from behind, so not sure the after market LED kits will work. LED kits requires open space for heat ventilation... wont work reliably on w211 headlights
