Damage is tough to look at, but all in all not too bad. It shouldn't affect the car at all when properly repaired. (fender, bumper cover, headlight, mirror, & door repair?
Why do you use a front plate mounted EZ Pass* instead of the small windshield mounted one?
* A transponder used up & down the East Coast on Toll Roads to electronically debit a prepaid toll "charge account", so stopping & paying w/ cash is not necessary.

It was my choice and I thought the one on the bumper made more sense and looked better. You cannot tell from the pictures, but the windshield was already cracked from rocks on the highway and with me driving about 35,000 miles per year I was sure I would need a new windshield eventually.

Ouch!! As Barry has already stated the damage does not look too serious. I am an extremely fussy person and I would only accept a 100% match between new panels and old.
I have been known to upset a few bodyshops in the past.
Good luck with the repair, and I hope you soon forget about this incident.
Regards,
John

John,
The good news is that you are all right. Your car can be repaired.
My wife was hit in our W202 about 5 years ago and we had a very difficult time with both the dealer's body shop and the insurance company. Maybe I am too fussy about my expectations but overspray, dirt in the paint, scratches in the roof and doors where there weren't any before, wrong emblem on the trunk, ripped trunk rubber seal, etc are not what I expect from a first rate shop. We had to send the car back twice to get it 95% right. We also claimed depreciated value, which the insurance company fought. In Texas at least, you can claim the car is worth less because it has been in an accident. You have to have an appraisal from an authorized company that says what the car should be worth and what it is now that it has been repaired. This is a lot of work and arguing but the insurance company did pay for the appraisal and then we negotiated a settlement.
Fight for whatever you can get in your state and make sure the repairs meet your expectations.

Looking at one of your very good pictures I thought I saw the impact point where the poor emblem met its final fate.

I don't have all of the details since my wife took the car to the shop for the estimate, but replacing (not repairing) all of the damaged parts, four wheel alignment and even a new Star comes to $4,920.

Sorry to see the damage. I got t-boned when an uninsured driver ran a red light. The force of the impact was on the right rear wheel. Very little body damage, rear bumper lower door and the filler in front of the door. The big bucks came in from the rear suspension cross member, control arms, airmatic bags, muffler and exhaust etc. On the underside they had to remove everything from the transmission all the way to the very back of car. They had to put it on a Cellette frame jig to set the cross member. Total damage was $10,000. Great news nobody got hurt. and the body work and paint is perfect. Now all I have to do is get the dealer to get the airmatic working correctly!

My very first and worst deer hit!
In the Early 90s I was driving from Boulder, CO to Boca Raton, FL and I hit a big deer at 75mph. I was not hurt, but it scared the s#it out of me. I was driving back home to start my senior year in college and this put a damper on things.
This was an Isuzu Impulse with Lotus suspension and every toy of the day, this wreck hurt my budget a bit, but that was all. I actually had it fixed and the car lasted me until I finished college and went on to my first job. Then I got the family's W124 which was totaled this last July by a cell phone talking teen in a Jeep Grand Cherokee.
The main thing with these deer hits is that it does not come through the windshield and kill you! I was driving fast enough to make the deer fly over the car and not come through the windshield.
I was very lucky! The Kansas State trooper called a buddy who slaughtered the deer, so I know it got eaten.
