E500 ALL Terrain

Dearest W211 community,
Has anyone asked the question, What if Mercedes made an offroad station wagon to compete with the Outback, Allroad, or XC70? But its the mid 2000s.
I have Asked this question to myself off and on since 2017. This year I intend to answer it with your help.
Attached is the only pic on the internet i could find of one. with no description or context added.
An offroad station wagon is a simple recipe. Take an AWD station wagon and just add ground clearance.
Not sure how I'll approach the two tone/body cladding situation, but that's actually the least important.
why 500 and not 350? BCUZ V8

no more Mr. outback. no more 4banger meets 4 speed auto geared like a tracktor. I needs me a not messing around car and a w212 isn't in the budget. it has to be this way.

It's no Benz but my '12 Outback with a 3.6L H6 engine DOES have 256 HP and 247 ft. lbs of torque.
But
It's no Benz.

thats some gud power. but it certainly dont bet 300 horsepower and 330 LBS of torq
also the 4matic system, while not as good as subaru symmetrical, is nothing to sneeze at. at least from the AWD test i have seen online.

funny this has recently crossed my mind too! i used to own a 14 outback (H4 so it was terribly slow with the dreaded CVT), so i know the appeal and utility in having one. now i have a 08 S211 and imagine the same lift/cladding done to it.

that first picture is very intriguing! however i think lifting the wagon will be pretty tough w/o some custom work. in the subaru world, some use subframe spacers to lift the rear. that might work on the S211 too. front will be tougher with the front axles and getting the alignment right.

keep us posted on your progress!

I am familiar with lifting unibody cars. ive installed a 2" lift on my outback and ridgeline. i have a general idea of the task before me. i have a garage and a respectable tool collection with some measuring tools. i setup a gofundme if anyone around here is interested in supporting this build. i really want this one in Florida. https://www.carsforsale.com/vehicle/details/110698783 god i love them wheels. https://gofund.me/994e24d5
