Command question..

I was just wondering if anyone has been able to find a way to turn off the Command screen whilst keeping the radio/CD playing?

The brightness of the screen is just too high at night, even at the lowest brightness setting. In my old SAAB 95 it had a NIGHT button where it will turn off all lights and the only things that are illuminating is the Speedo bar and numbers, fuel gauge and clock. It was great for night driving!

I don't think that it's possible to do that.

At night, are you getting the white (day time) background screen or the black (nite time) background screen? You might be set on day screen all the time in the Comand programming, instead of automatically changing according to the ambient light.

One time my Screen locked in the white daytime screen for 24 hours & wouldn't change no matter what I did. It was way too bright at night!

So, if one wants to shut the bright screen off while listening to music, he must pay $20,000 more? What a shame!

Those DVD comands are manufactured by siemens....and are completely different then the ones in the W211s that are made by Bekker...reading the manual won't change that...

Make a cardboard cutout to fit over the command screen. For a classy touch, paste a MB star on it. :p
