Intake manifold, e320 2004
I initially brought my car in due to an emissions issue here in Arizona. It failed with a Bank 2 code, so I took it to Ray’s Euro Garage in Phoenix. Ray performed an oil change and noted that the intake manifold appeared to be leaking, and the front ball joints were also worn. He asked me to bring the car back in a few days for a closer inspection.
When I returned, he determined it was likely just the manifold gaskets. However, during the inspection, a vacuum port on the manifold snapped off due to brittleness from age and heat. At that point, the entire intake manifold needed to be replaced.
The issue now is sourcing the part. It’s nearly impossible to find new. I ordered one from FCP Euro, only to be notified five days later that the order was canceled due to lack of stock. I then found a Pierburg version for nearly half the cost (around $900), but four days later, that order was also refunded without explanation. The mechanic said he might be able to locate one, but it could take quite a while.
In the meantime, my car is stuck at his shop with no clear repair timeline — emissions is now the least of my problems.
I want to be clear: I’m not trying to be cheap about this. If necessary, I’m willing to pay the premium for a new or verified part to get this resolved quickly. That said, I’m also not opposed to a good-condition used part if this type of failure isn’t common. My main concern is simply getting my car back assembled a new manifold would be the best outcome , I even called the last place I ordered one from which was zoro , they couldn’t give me a for sure answer whether or not it was really in stock 🤣 I have to keep throwing 1k or more until I land on gold it seems by the time tariffs kick in I’ll be kicking myself but that’s fine it’s not the end of the world
If anyone has leads on where to source this intake manifold (for the M112 engine) or has advice on a workaround, I’d really appreciate the help, the way the mechanic made it seem is if I bought one from a 3rd party that it wouldn’t be under warranty , regardless any suggestions here 😅 I’m a patient man, the conversations I have with him make me a little uneasy but I’m sure he knows a lot more than I do. One last question will the crossfire intake work? Or is there any differences ? I have seen some on eBay which I will call about in the morning
If this is correct I assume the crossfire intake is compatible
This seems clean ,
This is what I had initially ordered
