How Long Should the Michelin Tires Last?

Does anyone know approximately how many miles the Michelin tires should last with 75% highway driving? These are the tires that came with the appearance package on an '04 E320 - March production.

Thanks!

Generally Michelins are a "hard" rubber compound & last on average 45,000-50,000 miles before you'll hear suggestions that "you'll need tires soon..." The tires that came on my care are Pilot MXM4.
Change them sooner af you use them hard cornering/swerving or like to leave rubber.

From The Michelin USA site:
Pilot® MXM4™

Performance sedan tires with the emphasis on performance.

The Michelin® Pilot® MXM4™ is an all-season tire designed to enhance the performance characteristics of your luxury touring vehicle. Balancing handling performance with the best ride comfort in our performance touring tires, the Michelin Pilot MXM4 helps deliver superb dry handling, wet and winter traction, and a smooth, quiet ride.

The best ride comfort in our performance touring tires
Excellent all-season performance
Advanced tread compounds for long wear and low noise

It would have been my choice of tire if we were allowed to choose the brand of tire that comes with the car from the factory.

There's a great deal more info about this tire at www.Tirerack.com

Just for clarification, I'm assuming you are referring to the H-rated ones?

I have been using MXV4+ Energy V-rated tires on my W124, and they wear really quickly. Great tire though.

This topic reminds me of the proverbial question (at least for me and yes, I'm dating myself)..... "how many licks does it take to get to the center of a tootsie pop???"
Your answer will vary greatly on driving style, road conditions, speed and temperature.... My car came with "W" rated Michelins and with just over 12,000 miles they show approx 50% left.... I live on the twisties and normally see this as the norm.... Will I replace them with the same????? Not sure yet.

I am just curious. . . How come my old 124 came with H rated tires and this W211, which will run circles around it, comes with H?

I bet it is only in the US market that it comes with H.

When I lived in Germany and drove fast for hours (when traffic allowed) I really needed high performance tires. But I am still thinking about getting V rated tires when I replace the summer tires since I think that the handling and ride is better. What do you all think?

I don’t really care about treat wear as long as I get 20K miles out of a set. After all these years I always have.

I'm pretty sure he's talking about Michelin Pilot Primacy tires, I think they're the only Michelin tires that come in size 245/45/17....they got an extremely low rated for noise and a "good" for treadwear, most people that reviewed the tire said that they replaced them at around 25,000 to 30,000 miles...

Michelin Pilot Primacy

My Michelin Pilot Primacy (245/45 R17 W) were pretty much down to the wear bars after 20,000 miles on the rear axle. The front tires still look fine, they have about 5,000 to 10,000 miles of life left before they are equally worn. Service rep said this kind of wear is normal for an E500.

Yep, the Primacy tires. I am around 22K and there is a good bit of wear now. Plan to ditch them real soon for the winter set and will not return them in the spring...

Here is the answer to my own question. Today my car was in for service and my rear tires (Michelin Pilot Primacy 245/45 R17 W) were dangerously low. I had just under 22,000 miles on them (and again, most of these are highway). This is definitely not the tire I am going to buy next time!
