Will These Fit

Would like to put a set of 2004 stock 16" OEM E Class wheels on my 2002 C240.
The specs I have found are:

EClass...16x8, 36mm offset, 5x112 bolt pattern, tires 225/55/16

CClass...16x7, 37mm offset, 5x112 bolt pattern, tires 205/55/16

Just minor differences here, but not smart enough to know if it is an issue or a simple bolt on.

Thanks Jeff

I am only posting because your requested I do so. I really don't know much about the C class except I like them when I get them a loaner cars.

The offset and bolt patterns are the most important thing, they could fit, but the rim is a whole inch wider and the tire is 20 mm wider. The problem would be that it could rub somewhere inside the wheel well. Also, the sidewall is going to be much taller on the 225/55/16.

Your original tires have a sidewall that is 112.75 mm tall and the E class tires are 123.75 mm tall. That will give you a speedometer error of 9% (it will say you are driving a bit slower than you really are.

So the one way to know for sure is to mount them and look. Then you should get a different size tire so as to eliminate the error. If they do fit, I would wear out the tires before getting a tire of a different aspect ratio.

These are my 2-cents worth,

Steve

An E-class uses 14mm bolts and a C-class uses 12mm bolts. The wheels will fit, but not recommended.
