722.6 Shift Problems

Hello Guys,

I wish to find someone to help me with my frustrations.

I drive a w211 e500 2003 with only 176.000km

Short video of the problem:

https://youtube.com/shorts/slQQojkBhxU?si=zNMowKxWFSyNu3fm

As you can see in the Video I get some major acceleration problems reaching close to 3rd gear.

I heard changing to the newer A2402701700 solves the problem.

So I did, removed, cleaned everything. Rebuilt and replaced everything, checked 90 degrees with a dipstick. No success.

I got no codes whatsoever, I deactivated the A2402701700 part with my Xentry, and the problem doesn’t reappear. Until I shut down the car and start it, it fully resets it back to like before.

On colder earlier days it’s even worse.

I start the car wait 1 minute and drive off and I get this insane jolt forwards like someone just rammed me from behind.

When I wait like 2 minutes it’s waaaaay smoother, the more I wait the better it gets. But that is not a solution and fix.

When I press the Pedal harder from a red light than usual, the problem is non existent. But I can’t push the car when it’s still cold and not lubed with oil on the inside.

I can’t be the only one suffering from this problem.

I even had a flush and everything. No success.

The one thing I know that my, oil shaft seal, rotary shaft seal or whatever you call it is not sealed right since I lose oil (not much).

maybe a transmission reset?

I’m out of ideas. Need help.

My 04 E320S W211, 130,00 miles, has this violent jolting problem from first to second gear while the gearbox is cold. After about 5 min or a few miles it stops and is fine for hours even if the car is turned off. The gearbox was serviced at 100,000, flushed, etc. by a pro.

The jerking from first to second gear has been present for about a year, 10,000 miles. The cost to fix it perhaps exceeds the car's value.

I avoid it by manually shifting/tipping the gear lever: while the box is cold, start out in first and then shift to second. It essentially stops the jerking.

Go figure. Try it.

This is exactly what I have been doing to be honest.

I start out in gear 1 and drive like 50 Meters, the streets I drive in are full of curves which exceeds getting to a proper speed in the early mornings.

I also get some slipping sometimes when accelerating even in first gear.

This can’t be the solution though, Im shocked that only a few people are experiencing these kind of symptoms.

Other than that the Gearbox feels smooth without a hesitation when shifting at all, just the 1st to 2nd and the jolt between 2nd and 3rd gear are a pain in the ***.

I am the kind of guy that is like „I don’t want to see any further damage to my Transmission and fix the problem early“.

But how can I know what the problem is if I don’t get any more information out of it, going to a shop and then taking of my transmission without any proper fix and me spending money is not a solution, but I somehow have a feeling this is the exact thing I have to do somehow.

Dig down in the treads on this topic here, there are some interesting answers.

I have no slipping, just the bucking broncos when cold from first to second.

I can live with it by manually shifting for a few minutes until the box warms up.

All part of the fun, I assume.
