W211 E320S sunroof sliding cover redo.
The sliding panel (immediately below the glass sunroof) liner has dry rotted on my W211. I'd like to remove the sliding panel and reupholster it, then reinstall. It has a foam rubber like coating and since it's a bit rotted particles from the liner fall into the interior.
After posting this I noted a diagram on how to remove the panel. Please any practical advice or experience with doing this would be appreciated. Has anyone attempted to do this? Your experience doing so?

Order the plastic handle and vents. The old ones will most likely shatter when you remove them. Installing the new plastic pieces is worrisome as one must flex the hell out them to install. Go with the thinnest fabric you can.
Would not hurt to replace the plastic trim piece in the front of the sunroof. Mine broke during removal .
