Either way, unless you are very handy, & don't mind surprises, have the dealer install it anyway. After 1 or 2 installs, they know all the tricks. You will be busy for hours, & then what?

I just got myself the Sirius kit for xmas... still need to set up an appt. to get it installed. Dealer says the antenna will be installed on the underside of the trunk with nothing visible on the outside. Hope there are no reception problems with that arrangement.

I had mine installed in the trunk (actually underneath the "shelf" beneath the rear window). It works about 70% as well as an antenna mounted on the outside of the car. It was not acceptable to me and I had it changed to a mini roof top.
