Question Mercedes V710 Phone?

I have the V60 Motorola phone and would like to upgrade to the much better V710 phone. The accessories for 2005 show this phone, get the dealer says MB has not released it yet. Any ideas when you will finally release it??

Hi,

Just got an email from my local dealer and here's what he said:

"Verizon V710 due January/February Price approx $1245 note the APPROX!
These prices include "smart" cradle, handset, simm chip and installation
ONLY if vehicle has option code 050 or 051 already installed. If not, That option needs to be installed at a cost of $1020."

The above prices pretty much killed the idea for me of having the integrated phone.
Good luck!
Tom

Did the dealer say what options 050 and 051 are?

The "Build Your Own" section for the E500 at MBUSA.com says that the optional "Hands Free-Communication System" is $1450 with voice control and $925 without. It doesn't say what the option numbers for those items are. So, "approximately" $1245 for the phone itself? Oy.

Email doesn't look very credible. #1 The proper nomenclature is SIM card. #2 Verizon uses CDMA. SIM cards are GSM.

However the prices seem eerily credible

050 = model year 99/2
051 = model year 00/2

So I think someone is mixed up when it comes to option codes, unless they are talking about something other than the option codes that are used when the car is built (such as 387 = MHI phone prewiring).

$1245? Wow, that's ... $200 for the cradle; $545 for the phone; and $500 to spend 30 seconds to plug it in to the center console (i.e. "installation"). Good deal.

$1020 for the core kit, completer kit, and installation sounds about right. We're planning on offering these kits to 2003-2004 owners for less than this total cost, but getting a free phone and using it with UHI saves a bunch of money.
