Bluetooth in new E500

I'm confused. I've discovered my new E500 delivered this week seems to have bluetooth capability, although on delivery my dealer seemed to think that MB didn't do bluetooth. Does everyone have Bluetooth showing when they hit the SERV button on the COMAND? Any clues how to get the bluetooth to work with another phone (the car has a phone kit too with a UHI).

So far all I've managed to do is get Comand to recognise my wife's Sony Ericsson, but I need to read more to understand how to get the devices to synchronise.

Lucky you. Mercedes doesn't yet include Bluetooth in cars for the North American market. I guess we're just not worthy.

Damn, bad for you and for me as I have little hope of deciphering the cryptic instructions in the manual. Anyone anywhere have this screen on their comand?

You haven't tried a search here yet, have you?

yes, but I can't find anyone saying they have a factory bluetooth equipped car. My Bluetooth search just found people cursing they don't have it or planning an aftermarket bluetooth solution.

Maybe I've missed a past discussion about factory bluetooth and how to use it. Has there been such a topic?

Yes, several. Let me help you.

In this thread (that you started), Oslo states that he has factory Bluetooth. In this thread about UHI, there's pictures of the Bluetooth screens. Although that installation isn't "factory", it is "OEM" (which I think is what you REALLY mean, because who cares what is installed at the factory or not, the issue is whether they are Mercedes designed/manufactured parts... there are NO "FACTORY" phone systems in US cars). And in this thread (again in which you participated), it is pointed out that there is Bluetooth available. This thread explains what the Bluetooth does in the car, and there are a few others (some are in the SLK forums I think).

Hope this is helpful, I think maybe I should become a "search consultant" as there seems to be a need!

Thanks Scorchie, this is very helpful. Looks like I'm starting to confuse myself! The differing equipment in different markets isn't helping my understanding of the issues either.

I'll pm Oslo as he seems to have the same set up as me. He might know if/how the BT will work in my car.

Thanks for your assistance.
