8.5 and 8 inch rims?

8.5 and 8 inch rims?
Why does my Sport pkg. E have 8 inch wide rims and the non-sport has 8.5? I would think the sport would have wider rims!! The manual states the E55 has 8 inch wide rims also.
I was hoping to put some miles on but the rain is coming down in Santa Barbara, I just detailed it and do not want to get the car wet.
