I just got my first Mercedes!

Hi guys. I just bought my first MB, a 2004 E500, black/charcoal. This is the best car I've ever owned! So far Ive ordered the CL style grill. The flat hood emblem and chrome rings around taillights and headlightsd were on the car from the previous owner.

I just have a question for you guys. Whats the consensus on extended warranties? They offered me a 3rd party warranty at the deasler but I declined. Im inclined to get the factory MB warranty (Starmark?) How much does that warranty usually cost?

i don't like the trim on the rear of the lights.
but yeah the e-class is a super-duper hot car.

I love it.

If you don't mind please do tell how much you paid for the car.

Nice.

How about a rear aspect of the car. I want to have a look at the rear chrome rings a bit better.

Cheers

Yeah the chrome rear trim is gross, do yourself a favor and take it off your car. The car looks great other than that, real tight

I agree with you guys. The chrome trim around the taillights is definitely out. Im on the fence about the trim around the headlights. I think Ill probably keep it until I install the CL grill, to see what it looks like.

congrats on your E-class purchase, I purchased mine about two months ago and am loving every minute of it.

About your warranty question, I opted to buy the extended warranty with my car. I paid an additional 3 grand for the extended comprehensive warranty up to 7 years or 100,000 miles. But here is the good thing, if I don't use the extended warranty after the 4 years 50,000 factory warranty expires, I get the full 3 grand back at the end of the extended warranty period. Its good if you plan to keep your car for awhile. About the Starmark, I believe thats only for preowned cars, the factory will extend the warranty for 12 months or 100,000 miles after the factory warranty expires.

good luck

Loco: best of luck with your sleek Benz........she is a grande lady. My dealer offered me a 3 year warrenty from Mercedes on my E320 Cdi for $2370.00. I think I'm gonna take it, that would be 7 years all together and I will keep the car at least that long. Good luck with yours.

Do you mean the stand-up hood emblem? It's a matter of personal taste. I replaced my stand-up emblem with a flat badge because (1) I thought that the traditional stand-up emblem looked out-of-place on a car with the sleek, hunkered-down styling of the W211 and (2) the stand-up emblem was in my field of vision when driving and I found it distracting. People who think the stand-up badge is the best part of the car will want to keep it, and that's fine with me.

You won't find a stand-up emblem on the new CLS, and to me, the W211's styling is a lot more like the CLS than the traditional, boxy, upright Mercedes sedan.

Now, some people remove the model designation badge from their W211, but that's another topic, and I don't want to go there.
