E350 4Matic Wagon

According to a German article the E350 4Matic does not use electronic braking. Is it possible that they are beginning to phase out the current SBC or is this only for the 4Matic?

One complaint by the reviewer was that there is no light in the trunk.

Something is fishy here.

I see no reason why a 4 Matic would benefit from not having the SBC system over a conventional RWD E. I just was reading about the new AMG E55 wagon and it still has the SBC. Maybe the person who is reviewing things does not know what they are talking about. I have just recently driven two 4 Matic wagons and they both had SBC and rear lights in the cargo area.

Some of the people reviewing stuff are .

This is part of the German review of the E350 4 Matic:

Largest advantage: the comfort, particularly on long distances. Seats, noises, operation - everything perfectly. In addition the all-wheel drive convinces. Particularly on damp roads. Then the strength is brought simply better on the bitumen and is not braked by any electronic aids.
Largest deficiency of the Allraders: While the tail-propelled E 350 T with the new filter course mechanism comes, gibt's the 4matic only with a five-course automat.
Somewhat incomprehensibly like so often with Mercedes: the price structuring. With 51.678 euro basic price should be lit nevertheless at least the trunk.

I wonder if this was lost in the translation?

The main complaints about SBC come from the US. This is rather sad when they do not have the full system. Most other countries love it. The system even comes as standard on the flagship SLR.

If SBC does eventually get 'scrapped' my believe is that it will be for cost cutting reasons and not a safety, or technical issue.

John
