What might your next car be???
I will tell you what, now that I have owned the W211 I have great expectations for my next car. I just don't know if I could give up all of the things I have become used to in the car. I have to hand it Mercedes for really getting it right in my eyes...

'08 AM Vantage V8 - '03 E500
My "buy and hold" philosophy extends to cars, usually about 10 years in the case of a car. Having had my E500 only 1.5 years, I'm not much thinking of my next car. If I retire my E500 in the fullness of time, I would look first at a BMW 5-series, assuming that traditional BMW design (inside and out) has returned by that time. If I needed to find a new car in the near future (our last car, a '97 5-series, died a premature death) I would take a very close look at the new Acura RL. I don't know that I would have to give up anything with the new RL except the V8, and I can live without that.

Next gen S350, 735i or A8. Basically, the next size up from the E-class or 5 series. If I can afford it then I'd go for the V8 variants of these models.

was '03 E320 - now - '04 S4
After my experience with the W211 - I'm either going back to Lexus or I'll try an Infiniti or Acura.
I think the W211 is a beautiful sedan - but it is a bit lacking dynamically and mine has had so many little annoying problems I don't care to repeat the experience.

My wife and I are looking for a larger suv. Most likely I will be trading in my 2003 Toyota Tundra for a 2006 Toyota Sequoia. I hope to keep my E500 for a while, but depending on my business, I would like to upgrade to an E55 or E63. We have a 98 ford explorer that's paid off, but with the larger SUV, I want a smaller car for work. Maybe a C320 sport, C55 AMG, IS330 or a G35.

E200 Kompressor (sold 2008), BMW 7 series (2009), now waiting for the E63
E55 would be a bit of a dream to own, I reckon, but I'll settle for the E-Klasse in it's new guise, in a decade or thereabouts (that's how long I hope to keep my current E-Klasse ... the bugs are all ironed out *fingers crossed* and it's a dream to drive).

I've actually been mulling this over for some time as the car will be 3-years old in the fall (my usual turn-over point), and have pretty much settled on an E350, 4-matic, bordeaux red with stone interior! I'm actually trying to convince myself to just continue to enjoy this car and not run out and order it right now - but the fall seems so far away!

Some thoughts. The E320 is a very solid car
and it continues to prove that it is a great cruiser. What I dont like is the constant decontenting to save a buck and the option list that nickles and dimes you every step of the way.
I recently had a terrible experience at the selling dealership. Their lack of professionalism and their aloof attitude has turned me off. This will give me pause next time. I will not condem an entire brand for the foolhardy actions of one dealership.
That said; I am sold on the rock solid structure of car and will seriously consider it again, but other brands such as BMW's 5 series, Audi's A6, Lexus GS, and Acura's RL will all be strong contenders. If money was not a consideration several cars (that carry more than 2 people) come to mind: Audi A8 6.0, Bentley Continental GT, CLS AMG55, and the amazing M5.

I have a deposit in on an M6, but I have some reservations: the rear seats are useless, the interior is austere, and I have concerns about the reliability. I certainly don't want one from the first year of production.
Looks like I have at least two years to make up my mind.

I am really starting to like the CLS. Maybe when the CLS facelift comes out I'll be ready to move on from the E. If not then I might just keep this baby for a while. I figure it has everything I wanted and as long as it proves to be reliable I don't see why I wouldn't keep it.

New E Class in 2008 or if decide to go up a notch in size Audi A8L or possibly BMW 5 or 7, if they get their designs (especially the interior) back on track.

If I decide I want to spend more money, A8, or maybe the E55. Otherwise, I will consider the GS, M45, RL, GST, and if the eventual facelift of the LS and Q45 are compelling, I will also consider those as well.

I love the E500. Wish I would have gotten an E55. Might keep it, at least thru the end of 3 year lease. Hopefully I'll be gettin this, and be able to keep the E as a daily..
Noble M12 GTO 3R - not quite comparable, but appreciable
