New E-Class Looks

Is it just me, or does the new E-Class look a little bit like the Ford Taurus from some angles? I'm sure it looks great in real life, but I have been a little bit disappointed in the Pictures I have seen.

I agree! To me it looks like they took the tail lamp caps off a Taurus and slapped them on an E-class! Or basically the whole back end!!! Besides that it looks great!!!! Just my 2 cents!!!!!

I've been trying to think what the taurus lights look like and they really don't look like those on the E... i do see the similarities with hte CLK and the ACura CL and volvo... but i am having a tough time seeing the taurus similarities... i'll try and pay more attention to em in the coming weeks...

I don't think it looks like a Taurus at all, if anything the tail lights look similar to an Acura CL. The new E looks great in photos and I'm sure it looks great in person.

Taillight assembly sure looks like a very much refined rear end of Taurus, Acura CL, Volvo.

...and the list goes on. Anyone foe Hyundai Sonata??

R U kidding me?

In all the car boards, including bimmer boards, the general consensus is that the W211 is hot!!!

Comparing it to the likes of Tauruses and Sonatas just because of a few similar design constructs is outta wack bros... it's like saying some chick has brook burke's ears, but she ain't nowhere near as hot cuz she gotta busted nose, busted eyes, busted facial structure, busted eyebrows, busted lips, nastee!!!

W211 looks great....it sits a lot lower than my C320 (I refuse to lower it).

Too bad

Hpilot, you're not alone. I agree with you 100%. I am not impressed with the new design. The front looks OK, as nice as the current model (may be nicer!), but the rear looks ugly to me, almost like the Taurus. Sorry
Too bad. I think Mercedes can do a better job than that!!!
So far, the only thing impressed me is the new interior dash board. It's perfect, nobody can do better

Thanks phungpho. What I really don't like, (at least from the pictures) is the huge crease on the side of the car. The July issue of Motor Trend has a picture of the new 2006 S-Class with even a larger crease on it. I guess this must be the new MB design theme. I any case, I just think it would look much better if the side had a smooth contour. I still want to buy it though!

The crease is not as pronounced in this MB site:
