2010 Mercedes-Benz E350 4Matic
Pre-owned: 2004 E3204M or 2003 E500 RWD?

I am in the market looking for a pre-owned W211. I live in Canada (Toronto) and my first preference is 4Matic because of my location but there are not many available with good options.

I am confused between what is available. There are few loaded 2003 E500s RWD with low mileage or 2004 E320 4Matics with low mileage, almost standard cars with no or minimum options, both for the same price range.

I am somewhat particular about the options that I need in my car like bi-xenons, HK sound, etc. E500 is beautiful but gas mileage is bad.

Which one should I pick?

11 W212 E350 Sport, sold 06 W211 E350
If you want a car with ok power and better snow handling, plus it is the 2nd yr of production (less problems) get the 04 E320 4 Matic. Plus its a year newer model.

I am not very particular about the power. Power of E320 is good enough for me but the options available on the E500 tempt me towards it and the 4Matic tempts me towards E320.

The reason there isn't many 4Matics is that no one really needs them here. There is barely snow on the roads in Toronto to warrant the need for the 4Matic.. Unless you are driving up north every weekend.

I would go with the E500 for the other 10 1/2 months of the year. Just my opinion of course.

If you get this much accumulation, get a 4 Matic!

These are just the few pictures I had handy of my two RWD Mercedes Bs in snow. The second one is of my 300E in Colorado (in spite of my German plate) and the first one is of my 190E 2.3-16 in Munich.

I have taken winter driving school classes as well as racing classes (in Germany). I know how to control a car in the snow and I have never had any kind of impact due to snow. However, I have been caught in blizzards many times and it is not fun to skid (even with good tires) and not know if you can make it out of your own driveway.

The picture of the 300E was taken up near Vail. It was temporarily stuck, but had no choice but to drive through that little patch of snow. I got out, but the 4-Matic would have been very useful (the car had 4 studded snow tires on it!).

The first picture was taken near Munich. The storm I was driving through was out of control and I had stopped to take a break. I was in the process of digging the car out after it stopped snowing when I took this picture. Also, the car had 4 snow tires on it, which is why it had the UGLY standard hubcaps on it. I had nicer rims for the summer.

If you will be driving in snow or icy areas the 4 Matic is worth every penny!!!

Steve

Can you see that I like White cars!?
