"a Puzzlement"
So I'm driving the car and its just starting to get dark as I notice my headlights turn on (I'm in auto setting) a little earlier than I would normaly turn them on manualy, but no biggie. Anyway, as I'm heading into the hills on the twisties making tracks back to the house I stare at the headlights just visible on the street as they track flawlessly left and right, and I wonder..... Do these things track when they are off ?????
Yea, I know..... I think too much.
Yea, I know..... I think too much.

And people wonder why I spend so much time in dimly lit rooms with a cold cloth across my forehead.

I just strapped my neighbour’s son to the hood, and speeded up to 40 m/ph. He claimed that it was not moving, although his eyes were full of tears, and he stuttered a lot. But I believe that was what he said……

While your on your trip of discovery.....
Could you please find out if the glovebox light goes out when you close it?
If you run alongside your car whilst cornering at over 10kph you will find out the answer!
The answer will probably be, that you are very unfit
Take care

I have never been able to tell if these headlights track the road as they say they do. How can you tell when you are moving with the car and your head follows the curve?

OK, on a serious note here. I think that they will not turn when they are off, but I don't know if they will be turning if the daytime running lights are on. The reason that I think that they will not turn if they are off is because they don't turn unless you are moving anyway. This would make it easy to make them not turn if the photocell notices light. I doubt that the system is durable/rugged enough to always be turning.

Steve is right, the system does not track while the lights are off. My tech told me this as I was also puzzled on the E55. However, the motor is strong and durable enough to be always turning, but the engineers at Mercedes decided against it.
Lets say you are going through a curve and the lights turn on, the lights will automatically move in the direction of the vehicle almost instantly, hence the puzzlement.
