Is there wax for windshield?

When it's raining, my wiper blades make noise and can't go smooth.. have changed the blades but still same result. So, I suspect it's the windshield. Is there any wax for the windshield to make it smooth?

Get a product called Rain-X and apply it to the windshield.

Tree sap, road grime, overspray?

Has any paintwork or undercoating been performed on your car or was it near painting/undercoating operations?

My 2004 Chev Truck did this; it was ambient crud from undercoating spray.

Same problem on my E320. Dealer replaced the blades. That didn't quiet them down. Sprayed on Zaino Z6 gloss enhancer. Immediately they were quiet. Application lasted about 6 car washes. Application on the windshield takes 10sec. Seems to be the only thing that works.

I just use Meguiars NXT Generation Tech Wax on the windows and that also works miracles.

Rain-X works well. You can buy Windshield Washer Fluid at Walmart with Rain-X already in it for about $1.75/gallon.........it works great.

I have also had that problem on my new 2005 E500. I have tried "everything" short of replacing the wipers. I have cleaned the windshield with cleaner, tried various products such as rain-X, and Meguires with no luck. The only plus about the Rain-X is then I dont need to use the wipers as much. I have also tried Rain-X windshield washer fluid, and when i spray it on the windwhield, it works for about one minute while the windshield is still "slippery" but then reverts back to the same old noisy shuddering problem. I was going to ask for new wipers at my first service interval, but it seems as if it might actually be some sort of design flaw. Has anyone tried any aftermarket wipers?

Wipers that skipped, chattered and made loud ugly noises were a common problem with '03 models. The dealer replaced the original blades and/or wiper arms under warranty on our car and the problem pretty much went away. I thought the problem was limited to '03 models, but if you haven't checked with the dealer about the problem, you should.

By crikey this topic takes me back.

Rain-X is the 3-5-1 code of the W210. I remember all the regular complaints about wipers and smearing! (even more threads than our 3-5-1 issues) Some members swore by Rain-X, others hated it.

Going back to this problem. My wife complained of our wipers making an awful noise when working at their fastest speed!

I told her to put the wipers on a slower speed, but that comment did not go down very well. Has anyone else experienced excessive noise from their wipers when working at the fastest speed during heavy rain.

Before anyone comments,. we do not have 'heavy' rain here is sunny Torquay, 'she that must be obeyed' was on a trip to Cornwall.

Regards,
John

My 11/03 built E had quiet wipers from delivery until about 10 months of age, then they started the noise & shuddering. Dealer replaced the rubber for free, & they have been quiet again since, even in NY winter. I wonder how much MB would have charged for a set of blade refills at the parts counter.

Dont out MBs use a proprietary refill available only at the dealer?

Mine used to be quiet. But, now they seem to have gotten worse. It only really seems to be a problem in light rain. In heavy rain when it is actually moving a lot of water off the windshield, they work well. But, in misty or otherwise light rain conditions they tend to be loud. While they don't streak or shudder, they will make a little creak noise at a certain part of the window.

I've been using Rain-X, and I've been a long time proponent of them ever since I started putting it on my cars years ago. While it did help visibility and reduced the need to use the wipers greatly, it still did not reduce the noise.

I totally forgot to mention this while my car is in service right now.

Noisy wipers

I also have an 03 E500 with noisy windshield wipers. Dealer has changed blades at least five or six times with no resolution. The foreman finally cleaned the windshield with Bon Ami glass cleaner thinking there was some hidden residue no windshield, but wipers are still noisy, especially at the end of the wiper motion each time they wipe. I'm thinking the next step should be to replace wiper arms. Wonder why they cannot solve this very annoying problem.

I'll try to locate the service ticket for whatever our M-B dealer did to fix the problem on our '03. Stay tuned.

I had the same problem on my 04 E320. I used a clay bar on the windshield and then put on rain x...shuddering is completely gone.
