Just Pulled the Trigger for May ED

Just got back from the dealership. 2006 350 4matic, Petwer/Charcoal, entertainment package, heated seats.

Opted against the Nav as I have a mobile unit that I love.

I live in Washington DC and the guy from whom I purchased does a ton of ED and diplomatic (mostly diplomatic) sales. He claims to have some pull that might be able to get a special order panorama sunroof with the rear and side shades. I think it's highly unlikely, but will know for sure on Tuesday. If I can get it with the shades, I'll get the Pan, if not, the order will go with the sunroof package.

I pick it up on Memorial Day and will be doing a slightly modified Rally Package with my wife.

Congratulations.

Be sure to search on "Euro Delivery". There have been many posts containing valuable information on ED over the past 9 months. We did ED in September and loved it.

Let us know if you were able to get the rear and side sunshades with the Panorama roof on Euro Delivery. While you are at it could check if your dealer with special connections can get the otherwise (in the US) delted solar panel cooling feature with the panorama roof too? My guess if he is doing diplomatic deliveries he may have a way of getting options that are otherwise orderable for the diplomats who will be taking their cars home to a country where those options are available.

Just looked at the German Car Configurator. Looks like the solar panel is gone in Germany too, and therefore probably not available anywhere. But the sunshades are still available:

Inb light of the recent inquiries here, what, if anything, did you negotiate over the 7% discount?

Nothing. Straight MSRP minus 7% minus destination charge. Negotiated being able to put most of it on plastic which gets me more points that I'll never be able to use.

Regarding the sunshades on the German M-B site, are those the roll-up variety or the suction cup kind? The dealer said the the inexpensive side and rear shades were just suction cupped on - do you know if the sunshades listed here that kind? Thanks.

I'll let you know on Tuesday what I learn. Thanks.

Plastic? More than a few dealers I purchased from in the past (MB and others) set their ceiling pretty low as to how much they would accept by card. Anyway, I would try asking to have the 7% increased to 10%. Give it a shot. You’re right about earnings on these reward cards – they add up quickly if you’re diligent.

Couldn't get better than 7% + elimination of delivery, but got the plastic to $20k which was a small (well, very small) victory.

Well guys, I regret to report that even the apparent sway of the diplomatic sales head was unable to get the sunshades in E350 with the panaromic. Kind of upsetting as I'm already psychologically struggling with selling my CLK Cabriolet for my first ever sedan, but with our first kid on the way, the sedan and sunshades are kind of a must.
