2011 BMW X5 SAV
The inside looks IDENTICAL to the BMW, complete with the iDrive... so much for being on the cutting edge of innovation.

Wow, that extra weight must be hurting it quite a bit. It doesn't handle the skidpad or go through the slalom any faster than the W211, and its stopping power is worse by a whole 6 FT?

Quote from the link: "We lay the blame on this midsize luxury sedan's tires". Who wants to use all season tyres in any car?

I take it the '08's didn't come with All-Seasons?

With the exception of the E63 AMG, it is my understanding that all 2008 & 2009 W211s for NA were shipped with all season tires, either with Michelin or Continental.
All season tires (referred to by many as "no seasons") are frowned on in Europe.

Hmm, if that's the case then is that a valid excuse by Edmunds to say why it performed more poorly than the W211?

Perhaps not ? The Michelins referred to would have been the Pilot HX MXV4; they are rated #18/19 in the "Grand Touring All Season" category @ Tirerack.com compared to the ContiProContacts rated #8/19.

Keep in mind, these ratings are based on consumer reviews, not actual test results.

I could not find any professional test results that compared the performance of these two tires.
