New Black Series E Class Coupe

According to sources at AMG, the next-generation Black Series super-coupe will be based on the new 2010 Mercedes-Benz E-Class Coupe; however, there will be little concentration on increasing the output on one of the most powerful Mercedes-Benz models on the roads.

Insiders say that AMG engineers will focus their attention more on weight-saving techniques and tuning the mechanicals of the car. There will be a great emphasis on improving the model’s agility and handling rather than speed and horsepower.

As for the C-Class, there will be no Black Series version of the model since the limited AMG branding is only for two-door models. Nonetheless, the C 63 AMG will get more power in the future.

“For this performance version you can count on more than 500bhp but less than 525bhp,” said an AMG engineer

Makes sense seeing how the E class coupe is essentially a CLK anyways, they just changed the name. Although rumors have MB bringing back the CLK name plate for the C class coupe (real coupe with a trunk and not a hatch) in 2011.

Whoa are you serious?? I was just asking why dont they have a black series of the e-class. . That would def make Eclass coupe look better(hopefully they will do something about the rear as well. I think they need to make a black series for all of the models. Especially the current CLS. I'm a huge fan of the wide hips and the ultra aggressive look.

Does that imply that they are bringing the C-coupe back to the US?

According to the big three magazines, for the 2011 model year a C based coupe with two doors and a real trunk will debut followed by a convertible version. The poor excuse for a C coupe thats offered now in other markets (hatchback version) will be dropped. This is all rumor as of right now, but the magazines are usually on the right track.

The new E coupe is built on a shortened E-class platform; there are however some C-class components.

Indeed it is, in previous years the CLK (E Coupe essentially) was based off the C class. I felt they were just charging extra money..nearly $20k more for a two door version of a C class (the CLK Black being an exception lol). With the new rumors of the CLK returning, basing it off the C class would make sense, making it smaller than the E coupe.

It is nice to hear they might bring back the Black Series nameplate for the E coupe though. The CLK Black, SL Black and the Euro only SLK Black all have been some great looking cars.

Shall we have a W207 forum for E Coupe?
