Congratulation gmelays. Although I like the old w211 body style I thought the W212 looks even better IMHO after seeing it in person. when looking at the W212 it gave me the impression of something massive and solid is in front of me. Even if I didn't know what a Mercedes is, if i see it in the road I might have thought "Who ever is driving that car must be intimidating". The looks of the car IMHO projects power.

I was driving in from Vegas this weekend and was looking at cars driving by on the other side of the Highway (yes I can double task, hehe), and kept seeing W221's go by, at one point I saw a White one coming up and was like "wow that looks like a sharp and taut W221".... And it was a W212 w/ the Sport Package.

It looked GREAT from the angle coming toward me, what sucks for me is, every time I love an angle of this car, I feel like "wow I like it now", then see it again from another angle, and just lose that interest. It's SUCH an angular car, it's designed to look great from certain angles, but it seems like they forgot that from some others, that approach makes it look odd and kinda messy.

Either way, I am in acceptance of the car more now, and do like and appreciate its good points. I actually would LOVE LOVE to have one as a replacement to my Malibu to put mega miles on, and do long distance work trips, as I know I'd be experiencing the Safest and perhaps best engineered car on the road today (and hopefully most durable).... And if I would never completely fall in love with the design, that would be even better as I wouldn't be as **** about it as I am with my W211.

In a year when the new 5'er comes out, the W212's get 1 year old (Used Market), I have more money in the Bank, and my W211 isn't worth anything anymore (gotta love M-B re-Sale value), I'll contemplate my next move. I just payed off the W211 so I figure I can keep it for the long haul now and open up a finance on a more expensive car as the replacement to the Malibu when the time comes.

Oh no, don't say that, the W212 might become the next "absolute douchebag" car in that case, as they tend to go for cars with that image (Hummers, etc.).

the car is just a refinement of the already nice 211. where it really shines though are in the many sustantive changes that distance it quite a bit from the 211 and bring it much closer to those qualities, both tangible and intangible, that make the s class so desirable. an objective drive, especially of the 550 will make these comments very apparent.

Actually it isn't really an "evolution" of the W211 stylistically, which is what put me off to it so much initially, it's more-so a whole different design theme, a "revolutionary" design. M-B has said they like to "revolutionize" a design after each second cycle, so the W211 was an evolution and refinement of the W210, and the W212 starts a new approach, in which the W213 (?) will evolve on.... The W213 will certainly be an interesting car.

K-A is someone using your password and posting using your name or do I detect a movement in your opinion. I mentioned before that by Spring you would be an owner. Radical body changes take time to accept for a purist. Think back to the 1996 model. Now that was radical and it is now accepted as one of the most beatiful designs.

I guess I better post some more on how good the W212 so we can persuade him faster. Heheheh

MBs, BMWs, Audis, and most cars don't go through evolution, but instead revolution. That is why they depreciate so much. Porsche 911s on the other hand, go through evolutions. The W212 is not an evolution of the W211. It's a revolution (new design trying to usurp the old one violently).

I actually don't like the styling of the W210 that much. Still comes off goofy at times to me. I like the W124 though, beautiful car.

Also, a new design is not always better (i.e. Bangle). Even with the new W216 CLs, something about the rear bothers me, Idk what it is. On the other hand, I find the W221 rear very appealing for the S class, a kind of maybach look. I have a W215 also, and that thing is just pure, super-model s*x all around. The back is just so nice. I love sitting behind one of those in traffic, just makes me appreciate the car more and more.

I actually also prefer the exterior design of the W204 to the W212. I never thought I would like a C class over an E. I'm disappointed.

I'm just saying what I think. May be I’m too old for this fancy design.
I was thinking to have new E-class after my lease expires, but when I saw this car on NY auto show – I’m looking at S class. Unfortunately E does not exist for me for the next about 7 years.

Anyway...enjoy your car ....if I don't like it - it doesnt mean it's bad. Good luck.
IMO test drive the new S class and you will LOVE IT. You will also love the new LED look that suits the car very very much. IMO it suits the new E class too but there is something about the new E design that is just.... well plain ugly.

Lol, damn hackers!! Hey I've always said, I'm not biased, I give credit where I feel it's due. Also I have always known that I have to see the cars in the flesh, driving, dirty, beat up versions even, amongst other cars, etc. to really solidify my opinion on one

Gaazmon, you're right, and one thing I am glad about is that the W212 is not an evolution of the W211, as it doesn't make it look old nor dated, as it doesn't look like an enhanced version of one, just looks like a different M-B model. I see the W221 as an evolution mostly of the W220, which is why it makes it reek of an "old version" to me.

I rarely, if ever change my views on a car design, I can't even remember one car that "grew" on me to the point of me liking it. I appreciate and love the W210 as a classic M-B and a revolutionary step (in bad and good ways), but the design I still see as "off" in some ways, the W211 is an evolution of that model, and when you put them next to each other, they look like the same car, just one looks like an immensely refined and well-formed version.

That said, to me there are way too many flaws with the W212 design for me to ever truly fall in love with it.

....Aand that said, I love the comfort, and engineering, Safety, etc. M-B provides, and think of the W212 as the ultimate in comfortable and Safe transportation right now (aside from an S-Class of course), so if I can at least like the design enough to not "hate" it or whatever, I'd definitely consider it as I drive a lot on long, late-hour highway trips. I don't think I'll ever like it more than the W211 though, nor will it ever give me the same feeling as when I first saw W211's, or bought one, etc.

I will bet right now that the W213 will looks AWESOME. It will be an evolution of the W212, and I'll bet they smooth out and refine the look further. The W212 is just so angular, looks good from some views, which sacrifices many other ones.

Haha.

I will pass on that Test Drive of the new S, thank you, I love my E and feel like I am getting into a superior Luxury Car whenever I drive it, as getting out of most other cars, they just don't compare.... Getting back into it after a F.L W221 might turn into a nick in my babies armor.

I think the dual fog lights with Xenon headlights would be sick. Why is it such a nuisance, if not impossibility, to get dual fogs with Xenon's?

Nice color.

So does the 2nd inner set of fog lamps provide a high beam fog lamp or something (I think the brabus are like that)??? Or is one set fog lamps and the other set a DRL. Also, with the LED strips being a DRL, where are the fog lamps? Are they in the same housing just different bulbs???
